Three Life-Changing Questions for Advisors
by Allyson Lewis  | 02-19-09
Often the chaos from our day-to-day work life makes us lose the critical perspective on what we really want to accomplish. At least once every 90 days we want to encourage you to schedule time to ask these three questions that can change your life:

1. Where am I today?
2. Where do I want to be in the future?
3. How do I plan to get there?

You should see your brain as a powerful tool for future success. Honest evaluation of where you are today, setting goals for where you what to be in the future, and creating step-by-step plans to achieve those goals could make the difference in just how quickly you become the person you want to become.

1. Where am I today?
When was the last time you thought deeply about your life as it stands today?
To get started you will need a quiet place, a block of time and at least three pieces of paper.

On the first sheet of paper I would like you to write how you felt about your job as a financial advisor on your very first day. Hopefully, this page will be filled with sentences that include words like:
* Excitement
* Determination
* Passion
* Conviction
* Clarity
* Drive

It is important to write in as much detail as you can about how you felt during your first few days as a financial advisor. As you write down the reasons why you chose to become a financial advisor, your answers can help you remember the importance of the job and hopefully inspire you to reignite your love for the profession.

On the second page of paper, write in detail about the things you continue to like about your work as a financial advisor. This page might focus on some positive aspects of our work:
* Challenging
* Value-driven
* Ever-changing
* People-oriented
* Fast-paced
